In short
- Slowio is an educational and analytical tool. Nothing on it is financial, investment, tax or legal advice.
- You must be 18 or older. Keep your password private; you are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Paid plans renew automatically (monthly or every 3 months) until you cancel via "Manage billing". No refunds. Prices and features can change at any time without notice. Top-ups are prepaid balance: non-refundable, never expire, lost if you delete your account.
- Market data comes from third-party vendors and can be late, missing or wrong. Check any number before you act on it.
- Swiss law applies; courts of Lausanne. EU consumers keep the protections of their home law.

1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you (personally or for the organisation you represent) and Slowio, Vaud, Switzerland ("Slowio", "we", "us"). They cover the website www.slowio.ch, the Slowio iOS and Android apps, our emails and any other channel that links to these Terms (together, the "Site"). By using the Site you confirm you have read and accepted these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Site.
We may change these Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top tells you when. Changes take effect when they are posted; we may, but do not have to, tell you about them. Using the Site after a change means you accept the new version. Other policies we post — the Privacy Policy, the Cookie Policy and the Disclaimer — are part of these Terms.
The Site is for people aged 18 or older. It is not aimed at any country where its use would be illegal or would require us to register; if you use it from such a place, that is your decision and your responsibility. The Site is not built to meet sector-specific rules such as HIPAA or GLBA — do not use it in a way that would be covered by them.
2. Not financial advice
Slowio shows financial data, ratios, scores, screens, portfolio statistics, simulations and automatically generated (including AI-generated) text. All of it is general information for education and research. It is not a personal recommendation, not an offer or solicitation to buy or sell any security, and not investment, financial, tax, accounting or legal advice. A score, ranking, "fair value" estimate or screen result describes how a company or fund compares to a set of rules — it never says whether you should buy, sell or hold it.
Decisions you make with the Site are yours alone. Past performance and backtests do not predict future results. Before acting, verify the data at the source and consider talking to a licensed professional. Slowio is not a bank, broker, asset manager or financial adviser, and is not supervised by FINMA or any other financial regulator. See also the Disclaimer.
3. Data sources and accuracy
Prices, fundamentals, fund data, macro series and news come from third-party data vendors and public sources. They can be delayed, incomplete, restated or plainly wrong, and our processing (currency conversion, ratio calculation, scoring, ranking, deduplication of listings, AI summaries) can add errors of its own. We work to catch errors but do not promise that any number is accurate, complete or current. Do not rely on a single figure from the Site without checking it.
4. Your account
To use most features you need an account (email, username, password). You promise that the information you give us is true and that you will keep it up to date; that you have the legal capacity to enter this agreement; that you are not a minor where you live; and that you will not use the Site through bots or scripts, for anything illegal, or in breach of any law. Keep your password secret — everything done under your account counts as done by you. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used it. We may change or reclaim a username that is misleading or offensive.
You can delete your account at any time from the account page. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your portfolios, settings and any remaining prepaid balance are gone, and any subscription is cancelled at the same time (see section 6).
5. Plans and allowances
The Site has a free plan and paid plans. Each plan comes with allowances — how many times per period you may run certain features (for example screens, simulations, AI analyses). The current plans and prices are shown on the pricing page, with each paid plan's allowances stated as a multiple of the Free plan; they may change over time, and a change never reduces the allowances of a period you have already paid for. When an allowance is used up, the feature pauses until the period resets, until you upgrade, or until you use prepaid balance (section 7).
6. Subscriptions, renewal and cancellation
Paid plans are subscriptions billed in advance, either monthly or every three months as you choose at checkout. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel it, and you authorise our payment provider, Stripe, to charge your payment method for each renewal until then.
You can cancel at any time with the "Manage billing" button on the subscription page (reached from your account page), which opens Stripe's billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for; you keep the paid features until then. We do not refund or credit partial periods. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries for up to two weeks; if every attempt fails, the subscription is cancelled automatically and paid features stop. Prices are shown before you pay and include any applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. We may change the price of any plan or feature at any time, as often as we want and by any amount, without notice; a new price applies from your next renewal, and you can always cancel before it.
All payments are final. We do not refund or credit any payment, in whole or in part, for any reason, except where the law requires it. If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA or the UK, the law gives you a 14-day right of withdrawal from a subscription purchase; because paid features are available immediately, by buying you expressly ask us to start the service at once and acknowledge that you lose this right of withdrawal as a result, to the extent the law allows.
7. Account balance top-ups
You may buy one-time top-ups that add a prepaid balance to your account. The balance pays for runs of paid features beyond the allowances of your plan, at the per-run prices shown in the app. Balance is non-refundable and never expires, but it is forfeited if your account is deleted. There is a maximum balance per account; if a top-up cannot be credited in full (for example because it would exceed that cap), we refund that top-up in full. Balance has no cash value and cannot be transferred to another account.
8. Ending your use of the Site
These Terms apply for as long as you use the Site. We may suspend or close any account, block any IP address or refuse service to anyone, at any time, for any reason or no reason, without warning and without refund. If we close your account you may not open a new one. We may also change, limit, stop or remove the Site or any feature, in whole or in part, at any time, without warning and without refund, including features included in a plan you have paid for.
9. What you may not do
You may use the Site only for its intended purpose: analysing markets, companies, funds and your own portfolios. You agree not to:
- scrape, crawl, mass-download or systematically copy data or content from the Site, or build a dataset, product or service from it;
- access the Site with bots, scripts, offline readers or any automated tool, or create accounts automatically or under false pretences;
- bypass, disable or test security features, allowance limits, plan gating or other technical restrictions;
- copy, adapt, decompile or reverse-engineer the Site's software except where the law expressly allows it;
- share your account, sell or transfer it, or impersonate another person;
- upload malware or anything that disrupts or overloads the Site or its networks;
- collect other users' usernames or email addresses, send spam, or harass anyone connected with the Site;
- use the Site or its content to compete with us or for any commercial purpose we have not approved in writing;
- frame or link to the Site in a way that misrepresents it, remove copyright notices, or use the Site for anything illegal.
10. Intellectual property
The Site — its code, databases, designs, text, charts, scores, models, logos and marks — belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark and database laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use the Site and to download or print content for your own non-commercial use, as long as you follow these Terms. All other rights stay with us. Third-party market data remains the property of its vendors and is licensed for display to you only.
11. Your content and feedback
You keep full ownership of everything you enter into the Site (portfolios, transactions, imported files, notes). You give us the right to store and process it to run the Site for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. You confirm you are entitled to upload it. The Site has no public posting; nothing you enter is shown to other users.
If you send us suggestions or feedback, you agree that we may use them to improve the Site without owing you anything and without confidentiality obligations.
12. Mobile applications
If you use the Slowio app for iOS or Android, we grant you a revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use it on devices you own or control, following these Terms and the rules of the app store you got it from. You may not decompile or modify the app, remove its notices, use it for commercial purposes, make it available to several users or devices at once, use it to send automated queries or unsolicited email, or use it to build a competing product.
Apple and Google (each an "App Distributor") are not parties to these Terms and have no obligation to support or maintain the app. We are responsible for the app and its support as set out here. If the app does not meet an applicable warranty, you may tell the App Distributor, which may refund any purchase price paid for the app (there is none — the app is free) and has no other warranty duty. You confirm that you are not in a country under a US government embargo or on a US list of prohibited parties, and that you will respect any third-party terms (for example your mobile carrier's) when using the app. The App Distributors are third-party beneficiaries of this section and may enforce it against you.
13. Third-party websites and content
The Site links to external websites (company sites, filings, news sources, data vendors, Stripe's billing pages, app stores). We do not check or control them and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement. Anything you buy on another site is a contract between you and that site alone.
14. Availability, changes and site management
We may change, add or remove features, content and prices at any time, and we may monitor the Site for breaches of these Terms and take action to protect it. We try to keep the Site available but cannot guarantee it: maintenance, hosting or data-vendor problems, or events outside our control can cause interruptions or errors. We are not liable for downtime, and no refund or credit is owed for it.
15. Privacy
How we handle personal data is described in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms. The Site is hosted in Germany and some providers process data in other countries, as explained there.
16. Corrections
The Site may contain typing errors, inaccuracies or omissions, including in descriptions, prices and availability. We may correct them and update the Site at any time without notice.
17. No warranty
The Site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and any warranty that the data or content is accurate, complete, current or error-free, that the Site will be uninterrupted or secure, or that any result obtained through it (including any score, screen, simulation, forecast or AI output) is reliable. You use the Site at your own risk.
18. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Slowio and the people working for it are not liable to you or anyone else for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data or investment losses, arising from your use of or inability to use the Site, even if we were told such damages were possible. In every case, our total liability for all claims together is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the event that gave rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for intent or gross negligence, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you. If you are a consumer, the mandatory rules of your country of residence take precedence over sections 17 and 18 where they conflict.
19. Indemnity
If a third party brings a claim against us because of your breach of these Terms, your unlawful use of the Site, or content you uploaded that infringes someone's rights, you agree to compensate us for the resulting loss, including reasonable legal costs. We will tell you about such a claim and may take over its defence; you agree to cooperate reasonably.
20. Your data and backups
We keep the data you enter and data about your use of the Site to run it, and we make regular backups. You are still responsible for keeping your own copies of data you care about (for example, your broker's original statements). Except where section 18 says otherwise, we are not liable for loss or corruption of data.
21. Electronic communications
Using the Site, emailing us or filling in our forms are electronic communications. You agree to receive communications from us electronically (by email and on the Site) and that they satisfy any requirement that a communication be in writing. You also agree to electronic contracts, orders, receipts and signatures, and to electronic delivery of notices and records.
22. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer living in the EU/EEA or the UK, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your home country, and you may bring a claim either in Switzerland or in your home country.
Both of us submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lausanne, Switzerland. The European Commission runs an online dispute-resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. Before going to court, please write to us at [email protected] — most issues can be sorted out directly.
23. Users in California
If a complaint is not resolved to your satisfaction, you may contact the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services of the California Department of Consumer Affairs, 1625 North Market Blvd., Suite N 112, Sacramento, California 95834, or by phone at (800) 952-5210 or (916) 445-1254.
24. General
These Terms and the policies linked from them are the whole agreement between you and us about the Site. If we do not enforce a right, we have not waived it. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to a successor of the business; we will tell you if we do. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control. If a court finds part of these Terms invalid, the rest still applies. These Terms do not create any partnership, employment or agency relationship. They are not to be read against us just because we wrote them, and you accept them even though neither of us signs them on paper.
